Destination Seneca County has announced that Seneca County had a record high in lodging tax collections in 2022, surpassing the previous record set in 2019 by 5.2%. The lodging tax collection for 2022 was $160,854.72 compared to the previous high of $152,951.62.
Lodging taxes are charged to travelers when they book accommodations in hotels and motels throughout the county. These taxes serve as the funding source for Destination Seneca County, with the money being used to promote the community.
“Our team is thrilled to see the consistent growth of lodging tax dollars in our community, with four of the last five quarters exceeding previous record highs in terms of lodging collections. I have always been a strong believer that it takes everyone working together to create the environment that makes others want to live, work, play, and visit here. The numbers speak for themselves and we’re looking forward to working with our partners to continue the growth that we saw last year,” said Executive Director Bryce Riggs.
“Seneca County is home to so many opportunities and experiences, this positive trend is just one indicator of the great things that are happening in our community and a promising sign for the future,” said Seneca County Commission President Anthony Paradiso.
