Seneca County Geo Trail Plans Official Launch with Kick Off Events
Destination Seneca County has partnered with Geocachers Anonymous, a group of geocaching enthusiasts in Northwest Ohio, to launch what will be the only geocaching trail in Northwest Ohio, the Seneca County Geo Trail. The Seneca County Geo Trail will send participants on the ultimate treasure hunt throughout the county. There will be opportunities for participants to collect pathtags, explore new locations, and leave their mark in the geocaches. Completion of the trail will earn participants a unique Geocache coin. Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity where participants use a GPS enabled device to locate “caches” at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world.
To officially launch the trail, Destination Seneca County and Geocachers Anonymous will be at JAM’s Monthly Market to promote and educate people about geocaching and the Seneca County Geo Trail.
The event will begin on Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at JAM’s Monthly Market and the table will be located outside the enterance of the JAM’s Monthly Market building at 145 Madison St. Tiffin, OH 44883. This event will focus on teaching people how to geocache, setting up the geocaching app, and answering questions. Participants will have the chance to hunt for a geocache, take hourly walks with geocaching experts to learn, and receive a special prize for first time cachers who find a geocache.
The table will also be set up on Sunday, September 19, 2021, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Sunday will focus on celebrating the official launch of the Seneca County Geo Trail. There will be a free pancake brunch from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm (served grab and go style) and a special geocache tag for those in attendance. The Seneca County Geo Trail will go live on the Geocaching App at 12:00 pm during the pancake breakfast.
