The next Tiffin Seneca Farmers Market will take place on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11. To help commemorate the day the Tiffin Police and Fire All Patriots Memorial committee will be setting up at the market. The group will have supplies for people to make appreciation cards for soldiers, veterans, and first responders.
The station to make cards for troops will be set up next to the market bank table. The cards will be sent to troops in care packages created by a local baker. Those who visit the market will be able to donate funds the care package project as well as the memorial fund.
“We could never thank first-responders, soldiers and veterans enough. The community can express their appreciation by signing posters to be given to local first-responders and making cards. Donations will be accepted to benefit Splash of Love from Home, Project Cookies from Home and All Patriots Memorial,” said Jill Gosche, secretary of the Tiffin Police and Fire All Patriots Memorial committee.
In addition to the 9/11 activities, the farmers market will have the usual market bingo, great produce, and fun. Currently the produce that is in season and will be at the market includes apples, carrots, sweet and hot peppers, sweet corn, tomatillo, swiss chard cilantro, collards, eggplant, zucchini, lettuce, onion, parsley, tomato, fennel, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, garlic, potatoes, fall squash, and romas cabbage. In addition to fresh produce, the market also has soaps, lotions, baked goods, and more!
“The board and I hope that people will come out to help make cards for veterans, troops, and first responders while shopping locally. All of us and our vendors realize without all of their sacrifices we would not be able to hold events like this in our free country,” said Kirsten Ameling, market manager.
